Carlyle Said to Near Deal for U.K. Online Luxury Retailer End

Carlyle Group Inc. is nearing a deal to invest in U.K. online fashion retailer End Clothing, people with knowledge of the matter said.

The private equity firm beat out rival bidders for a stake in the Newcastle-based company, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private.

End was founded more than 15 years ago by entrepreneurs Christiaan Ashworth and John Parker. It sells a variety of men’s modern fashion and has relationships with more than 400 luxury brands and designers including Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, Kenzo and Valentino, according to its website.

The company runs physical stores in London’s Soho shopping and entertainment district as well as Newcastle and Glasgow. Its profit after tax increased 20% in the year through March 2020 to reach 26 million pounds ($36 million), according to U.K. corporate filings. Revenue for the period rose 27% to 170.5 million pounds.

Ghislaine Maxwell has bail bid rejected for third time

NEW YORK — For a third time, a judge rejected a bail package Monday aimed at freeing Ghislaine Maxwell as the ex-girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein awaits trial on charges that she recruited teenage girls for him to sexually abuse.

U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan in Manhattan said in a written decision that nothing had changed since her previous two rulings in the matter.

Lawyers for the 59-year-old Maxwell, whose trial is set for July, argued that defense motions to dismiss the charges against her and an offer to renounce her U.K. and France citizenships were significant enough to assure the court she would show up for trial.

They also said she would have a retired federal judge provide oversight authority over her financial affairs. A Maxwell lawyer did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

Drama! Kylie Jenner has responded to the backlash she received after asking fans to donate money to a makeup artist’s GoFundMe page, who many believed was a close friend of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star. 

For context, Samuel Rauda, who has worked with Bebe Rexa, Bella Thorne and Erika Jayne, was injured in a car accident accident on March 14. As a result, he’s raked up quite a bit of medical expenses, with his GoFundMe page setting a goal of $120,000.

Jenner took to her Instagram Stories on March 18 to ask her followers to donate and many fans quickly shared their disapproval with the 23-year-old billionare, calling out that the Kylie Cosmetics founder not only has the funds to pay off the GoFundMe entirely herself, but should pay off the bill if Rauda is a “friend.”
