Penn, 21, told Stay Tuned that she has “always been really passionate” about art and design. She started her first sustainable fashion line in 2008, at just 8 years old, and said that because of those early experiences she “always kind of grew up thinking” of the environment.

“Everything I do is kind of in the overlap between art and creativity and making a positive impact in the world and tackling social and environmental issues,” Penn said.

While she has focused on sustainability for most of her life, she said that Earth Day in 2021 feels more significant than it has in the past.

Gem of an LIRR conductor returns $107,000 in lost jewelry

A Long Island Rail Road commuter was reunited Friday with $107,000 worth of jewelry that he accidentally left on a Port Washington train, and with the LIRR conductor who found it.

Ed Eleasian, of Roslyn, said he was returning home from working in Manhattan Thursday night with a bag containing several engagement ring settings that he planned to show to a prospective customer. Distracted by a phone call, Eleasian got off the train at Plandome station without his package.

Just after the doors closed and the trained pulled away from the station, LIRR conductor Jonathan Yellowday, a brakeman on the train, “noticed in the five-seater, there was a plastic bag.”

“I inspected it and it wound up being 36 rings,” said Yellowday, 38, who has worked for the LIRR for eight years. He said protocol required him only to leave the package at the nearest lost and found — in

PA woman’s lawsuit says she got herpes from mall makeup counter: ‘It destroyed my life’

WILLOW GROVE, Pennsylvania — The pandemic has changed the way cosmetic counters operate. But as malls and establishments reopen, a Pennsylvania woman hopes the changes remain permanent.

Her plea comes after she contracted ocular herpes while getting her makeup professionally done for an event.

Tammeka Hill said she visited the MAC cosmetic counter in the Willow Grove Mall in June 2019.

“She did a wonderful job with my makeup,” Hill recalled.

But several days later she woke up in excruciating pain.

“I couldn’t see, I had to be taken to the emergency room.”

Doctors said she had ocular herpes. Like the virus people get on their mouths, Hill had it in her eye.

“I literally cried myself to sleep that night because I just was like, ‘This is unbelievable,'” Hill said.
